Truthmachine review Edinburgh Fringe 2026 C Venues
Truthmachine
4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Sat facing each other each with a selection switch in front of us. A group of us are asked to put on headphones. Answering yes or no to seemingly mundane questions. From the group one is picked to be interrogated while wearing a lie detector. The interviewer asks questions some fairly mundane others quite spicy while all the time through our headsets we hear heart rate beating and lie percentage worked out live by the machine. We all then get a chance to ask a pre-determined question.
Whilst working out if we believe the machine or the selected person.
In our ears we are also hearing facts and tips as to how to cheat the machine, so do we really believe anything said.
This is a really well presented audio, interactive drama using jury selection style machines, lie detector and a slightly disorientating sound scape.
It leaves you questioning your own thoughts, and with a greater understanding on what you see as truth.
It will be different every day depending on the picked victim. One to see twice if you can slot it in a second time.
